我们是谁
中国与东亚研究学会(CEAS,以下简称为“学会”)为研究和讨论当代中国、东亚和世界问题提供了一个开放的学术平台。学会吸引并鼓励对这一地区感兴趣且背景各异的人士参与活动,努力调动学术和社会资源,以包容的眼光促进有关中国和东亚的学术活动发展。作为日内瓦高级国际关系与发展研究院(IHEID)第一个专注于东亚地区的学生社团,学会响应了学生群体中日益增长的需求,即在当代背景下理解东亚与世界其他地区的关系。我们推崇建设性的对话,并致力于成为一个包容性的思想交流渠道。
我们的任务
学会的长期愿景是发展成为欧洲范围内致力于东亚研究的前沿学生协会。学会的宗旨与日内瓦高级国际关系与发展研究院的使命理念相呼应 —— 促进学术交流,并使研究成果向更广泛的社会传播。于此同时,学会为来自世界各地的学生提供了一个中立的学术平台,为他们提供交流、沟通、分析中国和东亚的政治、经济、社会发展及其对国际社会的影响的机会。通过这种方式,学会将成为不同思想、观点和文化间的桥梁,并建立起理解、信任和友谊。
为此,中心定期组织研讨会、举办公开讲座,并邀请研究人员作研究报告。它积极回应学生群体的兴趣,探讨研究与东亚有关的前沿问题。例如,2020年11月,学会邀请了一位研究中美关系的著名学者,讲述美国大选对东亚地区可能带来的影响。在日内瓦和平周期间,学会促成了一场关于亚洲维和行动的讨论,并与两位东亚领域的专家进行了互动。为庆祝2021农历新年,学会静心设计了一系列集娱乐性与学术性于一体的主题活动,为学生群体创造了一次了解东亚文化与传统的机会。此外,学会还希望每年举办一次中国论坛,邀请顶尖专家学者共同探讨中国与世界其他地区关系的最新发展趋势。

Nicole Leung
Nicole is a first-year MINT student from Hong Kong studying Conflict, Peace and Security. While she continues to complete her Bachelor's in Politics, and Media and Cultural Studies, her research interests focus on media modalities and cognitive paradigms in understanding conflict issues within different cultural contexts.
As the president and careers project manager of CEAS, she is passionate about creating a safe space for students to connect to East Asian culture and politics, while fostering a dynamic and intellectual environment for professional development.
Being a true ENFJ, Nicole enjoys bringing people together through hosting fun dinner parties. Her mission in life includes sharing the wonderful world of Cantonese cuisine and 80s/ 90s Cantonese pop.

Patrick Anderseck
Patrick is a first-year MINT student in Human Rights and Humanitarianism. During his undergrad, he did a 1-year exchange to Seoul, South Korea, where his interest in East Asia led him to delve deeper into Korean politics and society. His research interests are in the East Asian Social Movement, history, and the Korean Peninsula.
As Vice-President and Career Project Coordinator, he hopes to create a supportive and fun space for people to come together and enjoy exploring what they are passionate about.
Outside CEAS, he loves to do photography/videography, read, or go for a swim in the lake.

Yuzuka Motegi
Yuzuka is currently a first-year MINT student in Environment & Sustainability from Japan. Her interests lie in sustainable educational programmes and social innovation, specifically focusing on competency-based public primary education.
As the Social Projects Manager and Treasurer, Yuzuka hopes to strengthen the CEAS community—she believes that CEAS is a sense of home for both students who are from East Asia and students who are interested in East Asian studies and cultures.
Her favourite CEAS pastime is learning how to cook from the many professional chefs on the board and trying out all of the amazing dishes (They truly are chefs!) :)
Academic Project Manager
Rayana Ghosh
Rayana is a second-year student in the department of Anthropology and Sociology; training to be a medical and cultural anthropologist. Her research interest lies in sexual and reproductive health, global histories of medicine, transnational feminist politics, queer and gender non-conforming experiences and anthropological explorations of indigenous health systems, with a broad focus on Asia and its diaspora.
As Academic Project Manager, they intend to use the platform of CEAS to facilitate conversations on under-researched topics pertaining to the region of East Asia.
When she’s not busy saving PDFs she’ll never read , Rayana enjoys reading (for pleasure), trying out new recipes, photographing cats and watching movies to honour her inner film connoisseur.
Academic Project Coordinator
Khanh Trinh
Khanh is currently a first-year MINT student specializing in Sustainable Trade and Finance.
Prior to joining the IHEID and CEAS, he has had diverse professional experience, including research in academia, project consulting at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and strategy and public policy consulting for energy transition.
Outside of academia and work, Khanh is a gourmand at heart – he enjoys cooking, sharing meals with friends, indulging in wine, bringing the world to Vietnam, as well as bringing Vietnam to the world.
As Academic Project Coordinator, he hopes that CEAS will continue to serve as the leading student initiative at the Institute on East Asia, and an academic platform that furthers our understanding of the region.

Luan Fürst
Luan is a first year MINT student in gender, race, and diversity. Having specialized in East Asia during undergrad, they have broad research interests in East Asian topics, with a special focus on minority experiences and social inequality, as well as political activism.
As an academic project coordinator they hope to keep students engaged with relevant East Asian topics and offer diverse perspectives.
Outside their academic life they are a huge cat lover, enjoy dancing, deep conversations, and love reading (if they ever manage to actually sit down with a book).

Mahnoor Khan
Mahnoor is a second year MINT student from Pakistan specializing in Conflict, Peace, and Security.
She would attribute my interest in the East Asian region to the films and literature of East Asia as well as the growing economic influence of many countries in the region, such as Singapore and China. Plus as someone from South Asia, she has a special interest in the history and politics of her neighbouring region.

Chris Dong
Chris is a first-year International Relations & Political Science student with interests in regional studies and global corporate governance. Beyond the realm of political science, they bring a diverse skill set to the table, having gained experience in computer science and serving as a freelance game developer and translator for various projects.
As the Website Manager, Chris is committed to revolutionising the CEAS official website to create an interactive platform that serves as a hub of resources for individuals passionate about East Asian studies, facilitating both learning and community engagement.
Outside academia, Chris dives into subcultures ranging from anime and fanfictions to fantasy board games and niche cinema. Additionally, Chris is a connoisseur of the culinary arts, mastering a range of cuisines with the expertise of a professional home cook.
Graphic Design Manager
Mitsuki Ishii
Mitsuki is a first year MINT student in Environment and Sustainability from Japan. Her interest lies in food and environment, such as environmental impacts of the food system, food loss/waste, and global food inequalities.
Although having no experience in graphic design, she is currently learning through practice to be able to contribute to successful event promotion and raising recognition of CEAS.
In her free time she enjoys watching volleyball matches, reading, and learning Italian and Spanish :)
Social Media Manager
Hsin-Yen Kao
Hsin-Yen is a second-year MINT student from Taiwan (ROC), specializing in Conflict, Peace and Security. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Diplomacy and International Relations (All English-Taught Programme). Her main research areas of interest are Cross-Strait, the Middle East and World War II.
As a Social Media Manager, she is responsible for posting on various CEAS social platforms. She hopes that through these posts, everyone can learn more about CEAS and become interested in East Asian affairs.
Outside of academics, she enjoys art and music-related activities, water sports (such as diving and swimming), and volunteering. Besides, whenever it snows in Geneva, she screams with joy.
